De-Nesting Diaries: Sunday, February 3rd

We should not write so that it is possible for the reader to understand us, but so that it is impossible for him to misunderstand us. -Quintilian (Marcus Fabius Quintilianus), rhetorician (c. 35-100)

From $100 US dollars we got 86.40 pesos. One thing I  have to say is haven for smoker Cuba industry. rose  joe  ciao

Hi again, Rose and Joe!

Thanks for your thoughts on Cuba. We would like to visit but perhaps not after hearing some of your experiences!

Up rather early this morning, trying to escape from the Great Wind Tunnel Experiment! Sisterhood Snorology became so unbearable by 5:30am that it was either attempt escape to the kitchen or suffer permanent hearing loss! Found Chloë there trying to coax Maggie into eating. Difficult time these last few weeks with an aging feline. Sadly, think Maggster has run her cat course. Already spent $400 and didn't find out much that we didn't already know. Not really the money but she's 16 years old and I can't imagine that even spending a couple of thousand more, (Vet suggested an ultra-sound for only $550 as next possible diagnostic step.), will improve the quality of her life. Hard for Chloë, of course, to entertain the thought of having her put to sleep. Not easy for us either.

Anyway, poor thing did eat a small dish of food and then Chloë went back to bed. I let Maggie outside for a bit. Back in to use her litter box and then to vomit what she had eaten. Obviously, not a particularly good sign. Of course, this comes smack dab in the middle of work on the loft, coming move and Chloë starting a new job on Monday. Sad time at the Islay Inn. Probably one of the main reasons, (Other than the on-going Boeing 787 Dreamliner aerodynamic testing), I woke up so early. All sorts of thoughts running through my fevered brain!

Spent most of the day putting new flooring down in the loft which we own, on Wall Street, off Powell, in East Vancouver, not all that far from Commercial Drive. Had a great deal of help from friend Sarge, neighbour downstairs, as Chloë ran into him last night. She was attending a curling dinner at VCC. There was a silent auction as part of the weekend bonspiel dinner festivities and all the proceeds were being donated to Aunt Leah's. She was just hired to work as their Fund Raising Co-ordinator. Her boss asked her to attend to get some idea of what sort of public presentation she will probably be asked to make at some point. I gather Team Sutherland was in the tournament or Sarge was playing with some other friends from the rink. Anyway, he told Chloë that he would come over to the loft to help out so that certainly made things go more quickly.  Not only is he fairly handy but having four sets of hands really makes things go much more efficiently. (For her part, Cora Lee was involved with a service at Trinity United so she couldn't come over, at least until the early afternoon.) Sounds funny but when putting down underlay, per esempio, one uses an incredibly sticky tape. Having two people to cut it from the roll, one holding, one snipping, makes the whole process manageable. Two others, on floor, pin underlay in place until it can be secured. And so it goes!

By 4:00pm we had the bulk of the flooring laid. Dusty and I will return tomorrow to complete the section at the top of the stairs and along the edge of the balcony. Hope to ask another friend who lives nearbye if we can use his table saw to make some of the long cuts that are needed to finish the narrow strip at the edge of the balcony. Once the flooring has been completed we can start to really give the place a thorough cleaning. Not much point until all the sawing is over as sawdust seems to go everywhere.

Fond regards to you and Rose from Cora Lee. Cheers, Patrizzio Floating Floor Installer Extraordinaire!

Griffin Atlas Champagne, over 8 pounds, is all I know so far. Steph had quite the time of it, overdue more than a week and three times to the hospital before having this little guy! Can't wait to see him on Thursday. Flying out Wed arrive late. Will be back here the 12th. Staying with Beth and she has been ill with her pregnancy for a few weeks now. Love, M xox

Hi TNT!

Thanks for confimazzione regarding flight, arrival time, etc. I'll be circling Arrivals, as per usual. Will check flight status before leaving home so depending n traffic, (height of rush hour), you might have to wait a few minutes. Nevertheless, I'll be there so don't despair!
