Jambalay Diaries: Monday, February 11th

If a rabbit defined intelligence the way man does, then the most intelligent animal would be a rabbit, followed by the animal most willing to obey the commands of a rabbit. -Robert Brault, writer (b. 1938)
Are we not the cutest ever?!! Me and Krissy rocking snowshoes.
at Cypress Mountain
  • Patrick James Dunn Great shot indeed! Is there loads of snow? Temperature?
  • Chloe Alexis Dunn lots of snow, but it was a gorgeous day!!!! sunny and blue skies!!! t-shits only at the top!!!!
  • Patrick James Dunn Nana wants to know if you rented the snowshoes?

  • Chloe Alexis Dunn this time I used Mark's as it was a girls only day, last time we rented from MEC for $15

  • Patrick James Dunn Greetings from Demming, New Mexico! Arrived at about 6:30pm, local time, an hour later, Dallas time, as we gained an hour when we entered Mountain Time just past Van Horn, Texas. Left Dallas around 8:15am, after saying goodbye to Randy earlier. He left at 7:30am as he caught a flight from Love Airport to San Antonio. We were still there when Ruth returned so we saig goodbye to her and the two wonderful pooches, Clever Cassie and Mad Max, thanking her for the wonderful, wonderful stay. Spot of trouble finding our way out of Dallas as we missed the turn-off to Waco. Garmin Goil was fussed but did a splendid job of recalculating and we were soon whizzing towards Ft Worth. Unfortunately, it was the height of morning rush hour there so it took us about half an hour to get past the city.
  • Patrick James Dunn After that it was pretty smooth sailing. I drove until we reached Abilene and then Nana took over while I had a nap. I was tired as we went to ed about 12:30am after watching Downton Abbey and then was up at 5:10am to make sandwiches and finish loading car. We saw Zero Dark Thirty on Sunday afternoon and enjoyed it immensely. Then back to apartmento for a delicious Pimms cocktail, (Ginger Ale and ice with a cucumber swizzle stick!), superbly put together by Ruthless. Then a short walk to Perry's Staekhouse & Grill, a fovourite of Randy's/Ruth's. Great decor and superb service from Shari, a Jewish, (mother)/Roman Catholic, (father), Persian waitress. Half-price wine list/appetizers and the pork chop main, ($25), is more than enough to be shared by two people. Both couples did just that. Same went for salad which is included. We started with three appetizers, (deep-fried asparagus, pepper calamari and Polish sausage, all delicious, last two packing heavy heat), and finished with combo dessert taster, (chocolate ball, cheesecake and creme brulee), again, all part of the entree price. Two bottles of wine, (Miner, Sonoma, 2009 Merlot and an Innocenti, Argentina, 2011 Malbec, so we toddled home!
  • Patrick James Dunn Just back from dinner at the restaurant attached to the Grand Motor Inn here in beautiful downtown Demming. Actually, had a very tasty meal. I opted for liver and onions while Nana ordered beef tacos with rice and beans. Simple fare but very, very tasty. Back in the room to send a few messages and then an early night. Hope to leave by about 6:30am tomorrow morning so imagine we'll be at your place between 4:00pm-5:00pm, (We gain another hour.), depending on traffic, etc. We'll buzz you from the front entrance. Have to sign off as I'm about to pass out. Nana put her bean bags in the microwave and punched in a random number as she didn't have her glasses on. I thought I could smell something burning and when I asked her if she could smell anything she shrieked and dashed for the microwave. Just like Annie heating her runners on a piece of newspaper! I have a headache from the scorched material and roasted beans even though Nana tried to hide odour by spraying perfume near the oven! Now it just smells like sickly sweet burnt rubber! Fondestos to Teens and Los Horridos. Cheers, Dad! We Don't Need No Stinkin' Stinkin' Bean Bags!
