Jambalaya Diaries: Thursday, February 14th, Valentine's Day!

It is more often from pride than from ignorance that we are so obstinately opposed to current opinions; we find the first places taken, and we do not want to be the last. -Francois De La Rochefoucauld, moralist (1613-1680)

Saint Valentine's Day, commonly known as Valentine's Day, or the Feast of Saint Valentine.

Up at 6:30am to zap my mug of "Industriale"! [When Ayn asked what we wanted, yesterday morning, (She had to dash to the store before breakfast so she asked if anybody wanted java.) From their lazy beds, a chorus of orders was barked out. From The Babes: "Skinny Latte", "Chai Latte" while for his partThe Gentle Giant, couchified as he was, "Carmel Frappacino". I, alone, up and alert, bright eyed and bushytailed, at my dining room table workstation, requested "High Test Industriale"! Ayn wondered if the barista would know what I meant and it turned out that Lingua Patrizzio is universal, more so then Esperanto, it seems!]

Once fortified, I will work away, quiet as a church mouse, at the  voluminous amount of unanswered email until there is some sign of life from the Snore Brigade. Ayn will away to Corporate Crown Media by 8:00am and then I will put my Madone, (chained to the balcony railing for the night's safekeeping), on the bike rack. Loaded the car last evening so only have a few small overnight bags and cooler, with road sustenance, to pack before we make for the bright lights of Berkeley Town and the Cactus/Floridian Combo awaiting us there. I reckon about 5-6 hours will take us there. Haven't decided if we will travel 101 or I 5. Am leaning towards the 101 as we've not been that way for a few years and there is no real rush. Route is more interesting as well. Had we a few more days, would have liked to stay overnight in Paso Robles to sample some wine there but, alack and alas, not to be on this particular trip.

Hi,

Hope you guys are going to be around on Wednesday Feb20,2013 as the Gray's will be arriving from Calgary. Our flight leaves Calgary at 11.45 and should be arriving at Vancouver Airport at 12:14 pm and was hoping that you would be able to pick us up.  We will be staying until Saturday at 7:00am when we will fly back to Calgary, pick up our car and drive home.  Hope to here from you soon and that we are still welcome to come for a visit.

Call or send us a message to let us know that you got our message. Dallas and Judy

Pat/George,
Thanks for your details of your recent exploits, Pat. Wondering if y'all can come to dinner either Feb.23 or March 2. You can regale us with stories of recent travels Mr. Dunn. The rot has definitely set in here with very little riding done by me due to inclement weather. We've had a mild but wet winter so far. Hope the enthusiasm for the bike returns once we have some decent temperatures and dry surfaces.
Ray

You should call me tonight!!!!
I would like to share some news with you!!!! xxxxxx Chloe Alexis

Hi Patrick,
We had an enjoyable get-together to try some of Shelter Point Distilleries work-in-progress last night.  Good reasons for optimism re our keg share.  All we have to do is survive another 4 years!

I'm travelling to Lima today for a week. Where are you and Corine? Making your way home? Cheers, Peter

Hi Patrick

Our tasting panel of nine shareholders met earlier this evening and tasted
the three samples you sent us. We used the WSET format approach and a
summary of taster comments are reflected in the summaries attached.

We concluded that overall these three samples were generally much improved
over the samples previously tasted perhaps due to the fact all of these
were triple distilled. The first sample tasted was the new make spirit
which most of our tasters found quite acceptable. We then moved on to the
French oak sample which the majority of our tasters found to be good. The
3rd and final sample tasted was the American oak and the majority of our
tasters found that to be very good or better and it was considered to be
the best overall despite its tender age. The residual samples left over
will be made available to the remaining shareholders to taste at our next
tasting event on March 17th.

We hope that our tasting panel results will be of assistance to you in the
finishing deliberations and feel free to send us additional samples down
the line if you would like independent feedback.

Let me know if you have any questions. Kevin Ritcey South Okanagan Cask Owner Group Cask # 188

Patrick . .

We are expecting you Saturday to stash your wine and spend the night.  Otherwise, I'll just have to change the sheets which are still the ones you slept in.

Will see if Jackie and Chuck can come out for dinner on Sat.   What time do you think you'll arrive?

I was thinking of asking them to come out here at 6:00.  Will that give you enough time to shower and rest up? Marilyn

Mom gave me the most beautiful red tulips for Valentine's Day and Poppa gave me delicious chocolate truffles...had the best two day visit with my family and the feisty Aussie Tina!!
